SPAN Mentoring Group Meeting

On Tuesday, April 28 from 5-6:30 PM, SPAN will be holding a Graduate Student Summer Grant Info Session and Report-back. The session will take place in the French and Italian Studies seminar room, Crowe 2-130. Please come to hear some of last year’s awardees talk about their research. In addition, this will be an opportunity to find out about this year’s application process and to ask questions. The deadline for applications is May 13th. Presenters will include:
Roy Gomez Cruz — “Transnational Acrobatics: Performing Flexible Labor and Fluid Sexuality in the Contemporary Circus”
Rae Langes — “Performing Monstrosity: Queer and Transgender Tactics of Resistance in Twenty-first Century United States”
Angela Leone — “Born Wild, Created to be Free: Sexual Promiscuity, Western Masculinity, and Religion in Professional Bull Riding”
Karly-Lynne Scott — “Supersensual: Erotic Engagements with Media and the Extension, Reconfiguration and Remapping of the Spectatorial Sensorium”
Nick Davis, Steve Epstein, and Héctor Carrillo will be on hand to talk about the application process and answer questions.

We hope you can attend. Even if you’re not interested in applying this year, please come hear the presentation from your fellow graduate students. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
